The Franschhoek Wine region was born over 300-years ago by the French Huguenots after arrival in Cape Town after being exiled. Set against the backdrop of the Franschhoek and Drakenstein mountains, this town will take you back to where most of South Africa's wine secrets are buried. It is indeed the French who borrowed us their qualifications and skills in the wine industry.

The Huguenots Memorial forms part of all our wine tours. It tells the story of The French citizens running from a religious regime. After trying to find a new home in The Netherlands, The Dutch decided to send them to their new found Cape Town, specifically for their skills in wine and farming.

After they have settled and implemented their wine skills, the industry simply never stopped growing. Today South Africa is a top international wine producer, and it could be safe to say - Thanks to the French!
