Cape Point Tours, Fauna and Flora

Cape Point has a wide scope of habitats which is home to a minimum of 250 bird species in the fauna and flora varieties. For the bird spotters, we can make extra time available during our Cape Point tours for you to have a look at our feathered friends. One can also include the popular World of Birds park situated in Hout Bay.

Cape Point forms part of one of the 6 floral Kingdoms of The world. It is is for this specific reason that Cape Point tours are statistically the most popular of The Cape Town tours. In the park you will find a unique group of Fynbos species, fauna and flora that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

You won’t find many big animals in Cape Point. The antelopes species found in the park include that of Eland and Bontebok, plus the small Rock Hyrax, or Dassie as we call them in South Africa. It might be difficult spotting them as the Fynbos vegetation hides them very well! The baboons in Cape Town however can be spotted easily as they are much more familiar with humans.

The Protea has many different species, of which the King Protea is our National Flower. Pin Cushions is one of the species which are more visible around Cape Town and on our Cape Point tours due to the bright yellow colour it holds. The King Protea, which is the national flower of South Africa and the pride of our fauna and flora, can also be found on our 20c coins.

Table Mountain National Park and Cape Point states in it laws that no Fauna and Flora are to be removed or disturbed in any way, shape or form. It is highly illegal to pick flowers or fish in certain areas, whereas a permit can be obtained for these activities in certain areas. The Fauna and Flora of Cape Point and Cape Town is unique and unlike anything else in the world. Our Cape Point tours are private and allow you the time to choose how you would like to spend your time. So, if you prefer to do some bird spotting or flower spotting, we’ll make time for it!
